Deforestation is the cutting down of trees in an area without replanting other trees to replace them. This is mostly done in favor of human settlement, to trade in trees illegally or to use the land for farming. With the surge in population increase especially in industrial countries and theneed for more establishments, people have been led to reduce forest-covered areas by double digits from the 1980s. This phenomenon is not only prevalent in America but it is worldwide, mostly plaguing unindustrialized countries as their economic and industrial prowess increases.

Trees are the future of the world; they are part of the hydrological and nitrogen cycles that are crucial in the balance that is maintained in the whole earth. The hydrological cycle is the cycle followed by water from the sky as rain, to the earth and back to the environment through evaporation, transpiration and evapotranspiration. In the nitrogen cycle, trees and other plants play an important part in acting as nitrogen and carbon dioxide sinks during the process of photosynthesis. This means that when you cut down trees, you affect directly on the rainfall cycle in that area and you might end up contributing to desertification.

Here are other ways you are destroying the future through deforestation.

Deforestation causes or promotes soil erosion through the destruction and removal of ground cover and trees that slow down the flow of water and stop the movement of soil. In an area where trees have been cut down, soil and water move freely and therefore the rate of erosion and destruction of the environment is increased from natural to devastating.

Deforestation destroys animal habitat and increases the events of human and animal interaction as the animal move from their destroyed habitat in search of other places they stay or food. This means that they invade human farms in search of food and therefore create a human-animal conflict as human beings try to protect their farm crops and animals.

Since trees are great part of natural carbon sinks, deforestation destroys these natural area that store carbon in the environment. This is one of the causes of global warming as carbon plays a big part in greenhouse gases.

Joe Schnaier is a scientist with a heart for the environment, he is not afraid to get his hands dirty. He is a champion against deforestation in the Amazon forest that has gone on for so long, destroying the pride of South America. Joe Schnaier‘s passion has led him to participate actively in environmental management and to the formation of the Natural Resources Defense Council, a movement concentrating its effort to save the environment.

It is great to get involved in your community and take action to make the world more eco-friendly. But there are also small changes you can make within your own everyday life that, in time, will make a big impact on the earth. If you haven’t already, take these easy steps to living a “greener” life.
Recycle Your Electronics
With technology constantly growing and changing, it seems like our electronics become outdated as soon as we buy them. So what happens? Massive amounts of old or broken cell phones, chargers, key boards, misplaced wires, etc., being thrown away every day. This is senseless waste; electronics are so simple to recycle! Check the EPA.gov for the nearest drop-off near you.

Swear by the Energy Star Label

Next time you go to buy a household appliance, look for the Energy Star label and you’ll know you’re buying a product that is made to save energy and be better for the environment. All you have to do is change how you shop.

Stop Buying Bottled Water

Bottled water is really one of the most wasteful products you can buy. All you need to do is buy a reusable water bottle, which will surely cost you no more than five dollars, and refill it daily. There is no need to waste all of that plastic. Save your money for the new shoes or contractor software you’ve been needing.

Ride A Bike

Riding a bike is a win-win situation because not only does it help the environment, but it makes you look and feel great, too. Next time you need to run up the road for something, save on gas and ride your bike instead. If you have kids, try attaching a bicycle trailer. They will love the ride and the money you save on gas will add up before your eyes.

Buy Used Everything

Sometimes we are too obsessed with having “new” everything. Next time you want something, anything, like maybe a new computer chair for your home office, try Craigslist or your local classifieds before running out to buy a brand new one. You’ll be surprised at the quality of used products you can find at low prices, and you’re reducing waste in the process.

Boycott Paper

While you may not be able to rid your life of paper completely, in today’s world, paper is less and less necessary. Do everything you can to cut out as much paper as possible. Pay bills online, read the newspaper online, and opt out of as much junk mail as possible. You’ll save yourself the hassle of dealing with piles of paperwork, and you’ll save trees, too.

It’s a great thing government agencies and hard-working activists alike are pressing industries to adopt more environmentally sound practices. However, it’s just as important for individual citizens to hold themselves responsible. If you are planning a home improvement project and want to do your part for building a more sustainable future, consider these four ways to make sure your project is eco-friendly.

Hire Green

If you want to get your home improvement off on the right foot environmentally, hire workers that specialize in green projects and construction. With green workers, you’ll gain a trusted resource to make sure you are doing it right, in everything from the sustainability of your plans and design to the procurement of green heavy construction equipment rentals. Even if you are planning on tackling the project yourself, it’s wise to consult an expert who can lend advice and helpful tips on an eco-friendly renovation.

Waste Not

The keys to utilizing your resources and reducing waste are careful planning and measured focus. Always manage with efficiency in mind, buying only what you are sure you will use, carefully scheduling working hours, and coordinating the deliver of materials to the project schedule. When it comes to waste, be sure to be educated on the proper recycling methods, and consider which items can be reused or repurposed.

Embrace Efficiency

A remodel is a chance to start anew, and that means being able to utilize the latest in eco-friendly furnishings and materials. The wave of green initiatives has spawned a new generation of products, from coffee tables and couches to floor tiles and paint, which have been made with sustainability in mind. Leave no stone unturned in seeking out the greenest alternatives. By doing so, you will not only reduce the environmental impact of production and eventual waste, but you will also select appliances, replacement windows, and lighting fixtures to optimize efficiency.

Reuse and reclaim

An excellent way to bring character and depth to a newly remodeled house or room is to bring together an infusion of vintage items. Reusing things like doors, fixtures, hardwood furniture, and cabinet pulls are popular ways to lower costs on a project while reducing waste at the same time. In the hands of a creative designer, options abound; projects such as turning sheets into curtains and transforming old record sleeves into art can really make being eco-friendly fun.

Final Thoughts

To achieve real change for our environment, we need to continue to make eco-friendly a pervasive idea that impacts all areas of our lives. By planning a green home improvement project which limits waste and utilizes the most sustainable materials, it’s possible to not only reduce the costs of building, but also ensure you leave the least impact on the environment for future generations.

Recycling is important, fortunately more and more business’ across all types of industry are realising this and wanting to get involved. After all, we all want to be reducing the amount of waste just sitting in landfills.
By supporting recycling, you can really make a difference, but its understandable that people may not know where to get started.
So to help you out, here are a few of the more popular items that tend to be recyclable throughout different industries and how they can be separated/stored ready to be sent to a waste recycling facility.
Plastic – If your business uses plastics is important to begin recycling the product as otherwise it will just remain in landfills for a considerable amount of time.

Glass – Glass is also a common product which can easily be recycled. Simply keep this in a separate container.

Paper – this is a very common product in terms of what can be recycled due to the sheer amount of times that it is used. This should be all bundled together ready to be placed in paper containers.

Organic Waste – this will tend to include items such as tree clippings and leaves (which won’t apply to all business types!), but can be recycled and used as compost.

So there you have it three common products (and one slightly more “out there”!) that can be recycled. If you aren’t recycling at the moment, then you should do, together we can make a difference to the environment!

This article is written on behalf of enviroquip waste management one of the UK’s leading supplier of waste recycling balers and compactors.

Consumers have made it clear in recent years that they care about their carbon footprint. Green, organic companies are on the rise and consumption of their products has increased dramatically. It’s not just small companies contributing to this zeitgeist. Bigger corporations have seen the light and are adjusting their business models to be more energy efficient, sustainable and produce less waste. This year, for example, Walmart released its fifth annual Global Responsibility report, which showcased the notable ways in which this retail giant has tackled three sustainability goals in recent years. It’s easy to overlook such efforts as mere greenwashing, marketing tactics meant to convince consumers of an environmental ethic that may be superficial. Let’s take a look at what Walmart has committed to and you be the judge:

Waste reduction—Walmart has reduced it’s U.S. Waste production by 80 percent through a Zero Waste Program that effectively implemented recycling, donating, and repurposing and took 11.8 million tons of CO2 out of the world. This includes the adoption of junk removal programs that take on e-waste recycling.

Local Produce—Walmart upped its local produce sales by 97 percent. It plans to double it’s overall local produce sales by 2015.

Support for women—Through its Women’s Economic Empowerment Initiative, Walmart is seeking to stand up for women across the world by: investing $20 billion in women-owned businesses; expanding retail training to 400,000 women and 60,000 women factory workers; and producing $100 million in grants to women empowerment programs.

Renewable energy—As of 2010 Walmart was generating 22 percent of its electricity from renewable sources and had launched 180 renewable energy projects, include over 100 solar and wind farms.

Sustainability—By partnering with suppliers, teachers, non-profits and other sustainable retailers in The Sustainability Consortium, Walmart has sought to revamp its products to be sustainable.

Direct-Farm Program—Walmart has set out to strengthen farming communities in China, Central America, India and other countries in order to create a more equitable farming exchange through direct farming.

This isn’t the extent of Walmart’s changes. Additionally, the retail giant has set out to save customers $1 billion on healthier food options and fresh fruits and vegetables. Walmart has also bolstered its relief funds to victims of natural disasters and has stepped up its efforts to promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace. But its major changes remain environmentally focused, and the retailer’s considerable efforts to reduce waste, become sustainable, use renewable energy, and support local farms should not go unnoticed.

We all are aware of the fact that most materials should be recycled for making the optimum use of available resources. There are lots of agencies which deal in collection, processing, treatment and recycling of hazardous and other chemical and biological wastes. Labwaste is one such agency that can come to your rescue. With the help of Labwaste, you can get rid of different chemical and biological waste. In many other types of written communication, being able to explain yourself briefly seems like the easiest way to do it. In custom essays written at the college level, brevity must be ripe with ideas, illustrations, examples and a solid conclusion. Some instructors may ask for complex issues to be expounded upon in a matter of one or two short pages. The research and study necessary to accomplish this is not much less than that which would be necessary if the report was expected to be ten or more pages. In many other types of written communication, being able to explain yourself briefly seems like the easiest way to do it. Some instructors may ask for complex issues to be expounded upon in a matter of one or two short pages. The research and study necessary to accomplish this is not much less than that which would be necessary if the report was expected to be ten or more pages. In a case such as this, a briefer essay is not necessarily an easier one to complete.

Students who have problems condensing all of their data and observations in too brief a space can look forward to the help they can receive by visiting an essay writing service of the type students use to buy essays online when they have run out of time, or have neglected their responsibilities. When used as an aid to understanding, and continued high grades, writing services are a valuable educational resource, much in the same way as a tutor or a lecture might be. A professional writer will send you an essay online which will be of proper length, and this can be as brief as an instructor expects it to be. But when a student asks to buy research paper assistance like this, he or she can be assured that all salient points will be covered, and the proportions inherent in the coverage will be appropriate, without any omission of relevant material.

Green represents peace … and innocence
Travel Green
With debate around environmental issues raging more than ever, you may want to consider taking an eco-friendly holiday. But you don’t have to travel to Africa, Essouira or some other completely obscure location to minimise your environmental impact. Here are some mainstream holiday destinations which you may not have considered for your eco holiday.
United Kingdom – The UK? Environmentally friendly? Really? Absolutely! Since the Green Tourism Business Scheme certified over 1,000 destinations and experiences in England and Scotland, the UK is quickly becoming a popular destination for eco travellers, with a growing number of green activities and accommodation options. ‘Bwlch Nant Yr Arian’ in West Wales is an old lead and silver mine which has been converted into a wildlife-friendly nature reserve and visitor’s centre.
For eco-conscious accommodation, The Treehouse in Somerset, England, is made entirely out of wood, nestled in the tree tops on a small farm, but has all the creature comforts with a plasma TV, Egyptian cotton linen sheets and a cedar hot tub (that runs on a natural seaweed enzyme, of course). Flights to London are available on most major airlines, and visitors are of course encouraged to use eco-conscious travel options such as the train to travel around the UK.

Australia – If you’ve booked flights to Perth, combine luxury with efficiency and consider the new luxury walking holidays introduced by Auswalk 2011. Self-guided hiking trips will be offered around Western Australia’s Margaret River region, and allow walkers to gain coastal views of the natural landscape and wildlife. If you’re heading to Queensland, Atherton Tablelands is perfect for an eco getaway. This cool tropical rainforest plateau is great for bush walking, bird watching, horse riding, hot air ballooning, watersports and fishing. You can easily find cheap flights to Cairns, which is an hour’s drive from the Atherton Tablelands.

Canada – With beautiful natural scenery and landscapes, Canada is a perfect destination for those wishing to see the wilderness and nature without impacting the environment. Arctic Canada Wilderness & Wildlife Expeditions runs tours focused on giving you the most amazing views and experiences of nature while being non-disruptive to wild animals and plantlife. Sea Kayaking is another option if you want to see the Canadian wilderness by water while minimising your environmental impact. Flights to Canada are offered by major airlines, and be sure to do some skiing while you’re there.

For more environmentally responsible holiday options, there are plenty of eco-friendly holiday sites to help you plan your green adventure.

Green question by Ask-er: When can I start the application process for Green card after I start my employment with h1B?
i.e. Is there a wait-time for which I have to be in H1B before I (or my company) can apply for Green Card.

How much does it usually take to get a Green card from the day application process is started?

Do most people get their green cards before their H1B expires? What if H1B expires while green card application is in process? Anyway that people can stay in USA?

Thanks!

Green best answer:

Answer by Razor Jim
You can’t apply for a green card with a non-immigrant H1b visa. After you work for the same employer for 3 years they have the ability to sponsor you for a green card but that is rare as hens teeth.
A sponsor makes themselves financially responsible for you for at least 10 years.
With an H1b or any other non-immigrant visa for that matter, you have to exit the country and then apply to return on a green card
